In this project, her first formal series, EOH appropriates the form of David Wojnarowicz’s Arthur Rimbaud in New York (1978–79) in order to extrapolate contemporary feminist and genderqueer concerns and our alliance with AIDS activist artists of the generation before. Using Wojnarowicz’s images as guides, EOH searched the city for approximate and metaphorical translations into her time. A Coney Island waterfront becomes a cropped advertising image masking development in the East Village, a phallus becomes a dildo, and a needle of heroin becomes a needle of testosterone.

Untitled (David Wojnarowicz project), 2001-2007. 12 black and white photographs, 2 of these with embroidery; 11 × 14 in. multiple venues.
